santo antao mountain road

Photo of the week – Mountain road on Santo Antão island

The dramatic, rugged scenery on the island of Santo Antão is well worth exploring. The island is mainly mountainous and one side of the island is dry and barren and the other side is lush and green. There are also attractive little towns and a rugged coastline to enjoy. This island does not have its own airport, but is easily reached by ferry from the nearby island of São Vicente.

Photo of the week – Green hills of Santo Antão,

Photo of the week – this picture is taken near Cova on the island of Santo Antão. Many visitors to Cape Verde see wide open spaces and lots of sand, but not all of the islands are like that. Santo Antão is mountainous and often green, especially after the rainy season (September).
