After nine months, the first tourist flight landed at the Amílcar Cabral International Airport in Sal from Lisbon on 14 December. At last the tourists are coming back! It will take a long time for the numbers of flights and tourists to get back to previous levels, but this is a very welcome start. This first flight was operated by SATA Azores Airlines. It is understood that this is the start of a twice-weekly service; we have tried to check on the airlines website, but have not been able to confirm this.
