On 25 November we reported on a company in Mindelo (on São Vicente) that was recycling pieces of fishing nets to make bags and bracelets. Now we have heard of a company on the island of Santiago. This time they collect glass and plastic bottles and turn them into vases, glasses, keychains, earrings, mugs, tiles paving stones and blocks. The company Ekonatura is aiming to reduce approximately 95% of the refuse in the town and around the area of São Francisco. They see this a way to help climate change and create an environmentally friendly and sustainable business. It is great news that recycling is growing in Cape Verde. We hope it continues to increase.
