Normally when we report on new hotels in Cape Verde, we are referring to a new hotel on the island of Sal. This time, however, it is a new hotel in Mindelo on the island of São Vicente. The hotel chain, Marriott International, has opened its first hotel in the country. The Four Points by Sheraton is near to the Laginha beach. The chain has 500 properties throughout the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), but has previously not ventured into Cape Verde.
This new hotel has 127 rooms and is a further indication that São Vicente is becoming a more popular tourist destination. The number of international flights to the island has been slowly increasing. The hotel features various items of curated art including some by local Cape Verdean artists. There is a restaurant, a roof-top bar, an infinity pool, sauna, steam bath, treatment rooms and a gym. A bridge connects the hotel to the Laginha beach.
