Movie – Santiago Island

Santiago Island is the largest in the Cape Verde archipelago and it is where the capital city of Praia is located. Many people only pass through Praia airport, but there is a lot to see and do on the island. The lively city of Praia is on the south end of the island. The former capital is Cidade Velho and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the north of the island there is the attractive town of Tarrafal with lovely beaches. Nearby is the black beach at Ribeira da Prata. The drive from Praia to Tarrafal is through the beautiful mountains and the Serra Malagueta. This short movie gives you a flavour of the varied landscape to be found on Santiago island.
