Boa Vista has long stretches of lovely sandy beaches. This picture was taken at Morro de Areia, on the south west of the island. Morro de Areia is a nature reserve, which has an area of about 21km2. In addition there is also a marine protection zone some 300m in width. The reserve was created to protect the sand dunes and the wildlife, which includes ospreys, turtles, and nurse sharks.
