Once again the GKA Kite World Tour returns to Sal island, Cape Verde this month. The GKA Kite-Surf World Cup Cabo Verde 2020 starts the world tour. The kite-surfing competitions will take place on the Ponta Preta beach on the south west of the island. The same beach was also home to the 2019 event.

The choice of Cape Verde as venue for the event is appropriate given the amount of talent there is in this small country. The world championship in this sport is Airton Cozzolino and the World number two is Mitu Monteiro, both Cape Verdeans.

Another Cape Verdean, Matchu Lopes had to withdraw from the competition in 2019 because of an injury. He has been unable to surf as much as he would like in the last 12 months, however, he is back now and looking forward to this event.

The Cape Verde events run from 29 February to 06 March 2020. If you are staying in Santa Maria on Sal at that time, why not pop along to the lovely Ponta Preta beach and watch some of the kite-surfing events.
