We exist to promote Cape Verde as a holiday destination and encourage sustainable tourism. Our mission is to gather information. We are unique because:
- We cover all of the nine inhabited islands
- We check flights and travel information daily and update accordingly
- We have partners offering accommodation and/or activities on all nine islands
- We publish a weekly news post encompassing current information and updates
Our Story
It all started with a visit to Cape Verde in 2006 following the country being featured on a UK TV programme.
When we first visited Cape Verde we fell in love with this largely unspoilt group of islands. We could not resist the year round tropical climate, the welcoming friendly people and the fabulous beaches. Our original web site Cape Verde Holidays has been succeeded by Discover Cape Verde and is a major source of information primarily aimed at travellers interested in visiting the archipelago.
Visitors young and old, from all points around the globe visit our website. Interested in learning from a group of people who know and love their subject. In depth analysis of the islands, plus contact links to our partners ensures an online concierge service. As well as promoting eco-tourism, a particular focus for us is promoting small businesses. We encourage travellers to Cape Verde to swerve away from the all inclusive resort holidays because there is so much more to these unique islands. Each has its own identity and we are grateful to our partners for their expert, intimate knowledge, which they are eager to share.
We prepare and publish regular news posts about Cape Verde and several times a year we distribute a Newsletter. If you wish to be on our mailing list please use the sign-up form below.
Whilst we try to keep the website up to date, we always welcome feedback so please send us a message using our contact form.

Meet the team

Philip
Philip first visited Cape Verde in 2006 and fell in love with the country. He started the Cape Verde Holidays website, and he gradually developed the site through two further manifestations, which resulted in the current site - Discover Cape Verde. Philip runs the website from his home in the UK with help from other members of the team. He is passionate about all things eco.

Roger
Roger started assisting Philip with the website in 2015 after he retired as an architect. He first visited Cape Verde in 2012 and has been every year since. So far he has visited every island except Boa Vista and São Nicolau, but hopes to put that right before too long.
Roger has a house on his favourite island - Maio

Freddy
Freddy is our contact on the island of São Vicente. He has contributed articles which we have published on the website and is a friend and a valued member of the team. He runs a business on São Vicente and is involved in charity work.
Freddy is from The Netherlands, but has lived and worked in Cape Verde for some years.

Charlotte
Charlotte first visited Cape Verde in 2004, buying her villa on Maio in 2006. With a career in the media, her interest is reporting on Cape Verde in a national and global context. Charlotte is based in the UK but likes to escape the European winter months and there’s no better place than Cape Verde!

Ian
Ian runs Archipelago Choice specialising in bespoke holidays. The company offers a number of holiday destinations including Cape Verde.
Ian lives in the beautiful English Lake distract and runs his company from there. To enable us to offer as many holiday options as possible, we are developing a close relationship between Discover Cape Verde and Archipelago Choice.

Andreas
Andreas is from Switzerland, but lives and works in Tarrafal on north end of the island of Santiago. He has lived there since 2009. Andreas owns and runs guest houses in and around Tarrafal, as well as a restaurant and a coffee plantation. He also organises tours of various kinds.
