On 7 September on the island of Maio a concert will celebrate the music and composers from the island. The Maiense Association of Artists has arranged the event. It will feature 13 performers and will be held in the Centrum Sete Sóis, Sete Luas in Porto Inglês (Vila do Maio). The concert is entitled “Música e Vozes de DjarMai” (Music and Voices of Maio) and aims to revive old songs from the island. It is also hoped it will discover some new talents. The organiser Mário Tavares said that ‘It is a concert for the love of Maio’s music. Artists will lend their talent, without receiving any cash. We want to honour Maio’s musicians and contribute to the discovery of new talents’. The concert will be part of the celebrations of the Municipality of Maio Day.
