It is good to hear that the small country of Cabo Verde, isolated in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean has been able to send a team of professionals to Mozambique in the wake of the recent cyclone Idai. This team includes a variety of experts including members of the police, the Red Cross, the Cape Verde health service, with specialisms including doctors, nurses and a psychologist.
It is anticipated that this team will stay in Mozambique until at least 3 May, depending on the needs. They left Cabo Verde on 17 April. Cyclone Idai is estimated to have killed over 600 people in Mozambique and affected more than 1.5 million people.
