The 42nd Baía das Gatas festival will be held on the island of São Vicente from 6 to 9 August 2026. This international music festival is one of the main events in Cape Verde. The festival comprises several days of non-stop music and partying. It is considered to be one of the most important Cape Verdean cultural events. Baía das Gatas (Bay of Cats) is a village in the north west of the island.
Brazilian musician Léo Santana is the first artist to be confirmed for this year. The 38 year old will be on stage on 6 August. Santana’s 20 year career has resulted in him becoming one of the biggest music stars in Brazil. It is hoped that this year’s festival will be a big success following the cancellation in 2025, due to the storm that hit the island.
